About Us

Welcome to GUARO Farms!

At GUARO Farms, we are revolutionizing spice processing by bringing it to the first mile. With our innovative nano factory that fits inside a 20-feet shipping container, we ensure that spices and herbs are processed right at the source. By introducing appropriate handling techniques during the “first mile,” we help farmers adopt international requirements from cultivation to post-harvest transport.

Our first-mile processing approach addresses various concerns in the spice industry. We eliminate food safety worries related to mycotoxins, combat food fraud issues like adulteration, minimize product waste, prevent mold development, and preserve the precious volatile oil content of spices. Our commitment is to meet international product-quality standards, ensuring that you receive the finest and safest spices.

We take pride in sourcing our herbs and spices from over 50 smallholder farmers based around Butajira in the southern highlands of rural Ethiopia. With a special focus on empowering women farmers, we work closely with those who, on average, have land holdings of less than one hectare. In the picturesque landscape along the Rift Valley, at an elevation of around 7,000 feet, our farmers diligently cultivate, tend, and harvest their crops by hand. Everything is grown organically without the use of pesticides or fertilizers, ensuring the highest quality and purity in every spice we offer.

Let us introduce you to our passionate team:
